Newcastle Interiors is pleased to have partnered with Family Care Connection Inc. and SERVE to bring a Reno and Redesign to the Transitional House for women and children.  The Samaritan House’s Transitional House provides a safe place for women and children to live after leaving abusive relationships.  Using donated furniture, art, and accessories, in addition to new paint throughout, flooring, and new window coverings, we created an inviting and soothing haven for women and children to regenerate before moving forward with their new life.

Barrie, Ontario, June 21, 2006 – Family Care Connection Inc. and Newcastle Interiors announce that this summer they, along with community sponsors are providing a much needed renovation of the Samaritan House Christian Ministries Transitional Safe House for women and children.

Family Care Connection Inc. and Newcastle Interiors are organizing a make-over of the interior and exterior areas of the transitional home used by women and children who are leaving abusive relationships.  The home is in need of a little T.L.C., and updating.  The renovation will take place on July 5th and 6th and involves more than 80 volunteer students from across North America through a youth program called SERVE.  SERVE offers young people the opportunity to volunteer in projects that allow them to provide services such as home repair or food and clothing distribution.

“As women with children we (Racco-Brewin and Nagy) understand the intrinsic need for a safe living environment for our families,” says Claire Nagy, owner of Newcastle Interiors adding, “The Samaritan House provides exceptional service for women and children in need of housing and support, and if we can help by lifting their spirit and giving them a home that not only meets their needs for shelter, but meets their psychological appreciation of comfort and beauty, our work is done.”

“We can’t imagine a more rewarding experience then giving back to the community.  We are very excited to have this opportunity to help the Samaritan House clients in such a way,” says Susan Racco-Brewin, owner of Family Care Connection “Helping women and children have the simple comforts in life is our mission through this project.  Through working with the Samaritan House we want to meet this goal.”

The Samaritan House of Simcoe County was incorporated in May of 2001 and since the opening of the transitional house last summer, four families have benefited.  The families who rely on Samaritan House’s generosity and programs rely heavily on community support.  Such support from the community funds programs to educate individuals in the areas such as Parenting, Life Skills, Family Violence Prevention Program, Computer Training/Job Search, in addition to providing Educational Support for Children.
